Q: “WD My Passport Retrieving Deleted Files which were never deleted “,
I have a WD “My Passport” external drive that I have installed on windows. I thought I was very prudent to have backed up all my computer’s files onto the WD Passport, because only a few days later I spilled milk on the keyboard and knew I only had so long until the motherboard died. So I took the cpu into the Microsoft Store, had them look at it. I made one last final check to see if the files were on the drive, and set the drive to constantly transfer and update. To my knowledge, there was no activity (ie the transfer seemed to have finished) and the file sizes of the cpu’s hard drive and the external drive matched at some 300 or so GBs.

So I now have a new cpu. It has Windows 10 on it instead of Windows 8 if that’s important. I installed the WD software and plugged in the WD drive. Awesome! The files all seem to be there.

The problem is: now that I go to retrieve the data from the WD hard-drive, all of the files are crossed out. All of them show up, but for some inexplicable reason they are all considered to be “deleted files”.
